“How is that?” - You may ask. Well, healthy soil grows the proper biodiversity that bees need to do their business. In the early spring, they feed off the nectar of the blooming tulip poplar trees. Their next succession is the blossoms of Japanese knotweed, and finally, as late summer arrives, so does the golden sea of Solidago, or Goldenrod. They enjoy this yellow flower as the final succession before the frost hits. Healthy soil, which supports these species of plants, creates the perfect environment for bees to establish their hives.
Our vision is to have all our beeswax sourced directly from our land, where we practice organic farming, fostering biodiversity and supporting our local ecosystem, however in the meantime we source from a local bee-keeper.
It's about creating a cycle where the bees, the soil, and you, the user, are all part of a sustainable loop.
The Future of Our Candles
In 2024, a local beekeeper, Bunbun Bees, will set up hives at our farm. We look forward to sourcing from her and the worker bees at the farm when the harvest is ready.
In the next two years, we aim to transition entirely to using beeswax from our own farm. This isn't just a business goal; it's a commitment to sustainability, to organic land management practices, and to the health of both our planet and our customers. Each candle you light will be a testament to this journey, a piece of our land, nurtured by the sun, the bees, and our dedication.
