Reimagine your relationship to the land
For generations the farm was not only the foundation of the community but the threshold in which humanity engaged with nature. As the landscape becomes increasingly developed, urban and digital and our lives busier than ever; our relationship to nature and its bounty fade farther away from our daily experience. This is precisely why we invite our guests to venture back to the threshold of the wild and beautiful world and reimagine their relationship to the creative intelligence that sustains us through immersive experiences at Catawissa Creek.

Event: Tea Ceremony and Micro Retreat Series
Date: July 9 2022
Location: The Farm at Catawissa Creek,
We would like to introduce a story from the zen buddhist to set the tone for this event:
"Master, how do you put enlightenment into action? How do you practice it in everyday life?
"By eating and by sleeping," replied the Master
"But Master, everybody sleeps and everybody eats."
"But not everybody eats when they eat, and not everybody sleeps when they sleep."
From this story, comes the saying: "When I eat, I eat; when I sleep, I sleep" that inspires intimate awareness of even the most basic and fundamental actions we do on a daily basis.
Goals:
The goal of this event is to integrate meditation into action through a series of relaxation exercises and techniques. We are creating a space to retreat from the chaos of the world and mindfully experience food and drink. Our hope is that the ceremony will be like planting a seed in the garden of our mind and with proper nurture and cultivation, this seed of mindfulness will blossom into conscious thoughts, words and actions in each moment of our coming days.
Yoga:
Yoga means union, and poses (Asanas) are meant to prepare the mind for meditation by relieving tension in the body. The physical movements promote flexibility and directly contribute to the freedom of our vital life force as it moves throughout our body. This is the first step in our preparation.
Note: this is not a sequence of movements typically found in western yoga studios. These movements are intended to be simple enough for anyone and do not require any particular level of physical fitness
Meditation:
Now that we have relieved the tension in the body it is time to still the mind. We will have a short guided meditation to enhance clarity and focus our attention onto the coming food experience.
Tea:
The tea will be a simple brew, using herbs directly from our farm. Enjoy all of the sensations of the tea, the aroma, taste, color, warmth while integrating awareness into the beautiful landscape that surrounds us. 8 oz of tea to be provided
Agenda:
6 pm: Guests arrive and check in
