Catawissa Farm Brings Pennsylvania Wool and Herbs to Hollywood for Fall Awards Week
Columbia County stewards presented handmade herbal skincare and natural-fiber garments to entertainment guests in Beverly Hills; farm's ready-to-wear line launches later this year
CATAWISSA, Pa. — The Farm at Catawissa Creek, a 131-acre of farm, forest and creek in Columbia County, presented its handmade herbal skincare and natural-fiber garments to entertainment industry guests at the The Marianna Group’s HARVEST Awards Week Luxury Gifting Lounge in Beverly Hills, Calif., Sept. 10, during Emmy Awards week.
Stewards David and Anne Darling traveled from the Susquehanna Valley with 200 gift sets of farm crafted goods — herbal salves, and herbal infused massage oils in lavender, calendula, and chamomile, all produced by hand in Catawissa. Anne Darling attended in a dress she designed, cut, and sewed herself from natural fiber woven at Pennsylvania artisanal fabric producer, Tuscarora Mills.
The farm was dormant for roughly 60 years before the Darlings began stewarding it. Today it runs without synthetic inputs, using cover cropping, and rotational grazing for Merino sheep. The farm sits on the Catawissa Creek, which feeds the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
"We consider ourselves stewards of this beautiful piece of land in the Susquehanna Valley, on the Catawissa Creek," The Darling shared. "Everything we do upstream affects downstream, as the creek is part of the Chesapeake Watershed and connects to the ocean."
The Merino wool is the foundation of a knitwear line still in development. "The grass is a light collector from the sun and nutrient collector from the soil," the Darlings said. "The sweet sheep are nourished by the grass and alchemize it into their Merino wool. They are always outdoors, grounding, being imbued by sunlight."
Ahead of the knitwear launch, the farm produces woven garments from organic and natural fibers sourced from American farms. Ready-to-wear pieces are expected by the end of 2026. Made-to-order pieces are available now through direct inquiry.
The farm also makes herbal skin and self-care products infused with whole-herb extracts and no essential oils.

"We have always been extremely creative and when we came together with each other and the land, this energy amplified. We now raise merino sheep for our future knitwear line — a venture that harnesses the celestial light. "In addition to natural fiber fashion, we create herbal skin and self-care items infused with whole herb extracts. What is unique is that we do not use any essential oils — the fragrances are more gentle, and the fat soluble nutrients of the herbs are also infused into the products.
