This is the reason we brought sheep to the farm. The convergence of the land, the animals and creativity.

The garments we are working towards are a multi-step process that follows the seasons. This is not industrial, it is a co-creation with nature's creative processes.

The soil grows the grass which collects the celestial light. Our sheep graze the pasture, nourishing their bellies, producing fine wool, baby lambs and offering back to the soil fertilizer. We sheer our sheep every Spring and prep the wool for the next step.

Once the wool has been removed, we skirt the fleece removing any soiled or unusable sections. Next, the fleece is separated in to locks by quality. Locks are washed and dried then combed into roving. The roving is spun by hand into yarn which is then prepped for knitting.

We design stitches on the knitting machine. There are a few avenues to take from here- sometimes we use mathematics to create pattern pieces and knit each piece of the garment. Pieces are linked together to create the full garment. Other times we knit fabric and drape it onto the form letting the shape of the garment emerge.

Right now we are setting up our worspace, sorting and washing fleeces. We are also in process of aquiring knitting equipment.

Follow along through our process by signing up for our emails. We send updates, stories and photos as we progress in this amazing and creative project.
